High School Discipleship Weekend

High School Discipleship weekends are designed to immerse young disciples in the three pillars of a life of discipleship, 1) Frequent encounters with the Lord in the Sacraments, 2) Authentic Christian community and friendship, and 3) Intimacy with Jesus in a rich life of prayer.

Every few years our High School Discipleship Weekends focus on the theme of Vocation. The word vocare (Latin) means “to call.” In the Church’s understanding, this call is far more than an invitation to priesthood or consecrated life or marriage. It is God’s personal invitation to every person to live a life of holiness. Every one of us is called to know, love, and serve God, discovering our unique purpose through the particular circumstances and vocation of their life. Whether one is called to marriage, the priesthood, religious life, or dedicated single life, every Christian is first called to a deep relationship with Christ.

A Vocare Weekend Retreat is built around this understanding of God’s call. Throughout the weekend, participants are invited to step away from the distractions of everyday life to encounter God through prayer, silence, the sacraments, talks, and fellowship with their peers. The retreat encourages students to listen attentively for God's voice, recognizing that discernment is not simply about making practical decisions but about discovering how God is inviting them to grow in faith and respond to His love. Rather than focusing only on future vocational choices, the retreat helps high school students discern how God is calling them to live faithfully in the present—at home, at school, among friends, and within the Church—responding with freedom, trust, and joy.

Your parish is welcome to register for either weekend. Both retreats will be similar. Typically our Western parishes attend in the fall and Eastern parishes attend in the spring given the two locations, but you are welcome to participate in either retreat. Cost is $150 / person. Parish registration will appear hear when it is ready.
